After having been awaken by an earthquake (4.4 on Richter scale), we have opened some macadamia nuts (one of the hobbies of our younger ones here), then Guy and the kids went to see the Mauna Kea, the highest mountain of the island (4'207 m)... actually even the highest of the world if we count the immersed part (more than 10'000 m, higher than the Everest). The Mauna Kea is a sleeping volcano, the name means "White Mountain" in hawaiian, as there is often snow here (not this time, too bad!). This is the paradise of star gazing, there are many observatories. We have been able to try some telescopes at the visitors center and observe Orion, the Moon and even Jupiter and some of its satellites.

Hawaii (14) - Mauna Kea / Hawaii (14) - Mauna Kea
