Joële en Ouganda (2) / Joële in Uganda (2)

Après une semaine de préparation du staff et pratique, l'école FTJ à Jinja, en Ouganda, a démarré hier soir avec une douzaine d'étudiants. Joële va passablement enseigner dans les deux semaines qui viennent et aider à mettre l'école sur les bons rails. Elle va bien et a pu parler dans une église hier. Guy n'est pas en reste: il a enseigné l'équipe de la comédie musicale Pestalozzi samedi, puis tenu un stand aux 40 ans de la librairie La Rosée à Cossonay, et dimanche matin prêché au culte dans cette même ville.

After a week of staff training and practice, the PCYFM school in Jinja, Uganda, kicked off last night with a dozen students. Joële will be teaching quite a bit over the next two weeks and helping to get the school off to a good start. She is doing well and was able to speak at a church yesterday. Guy isn’t far behind: he taught the cast of the musical *Pestalozzi* on Saturday, then manned a booth at the 40th anniversary celebration of La Rosée bookstore in Cossonay, and on Sunday morning preached at a worship service in that same town.

Joële est bien arrivée en Ouganda pour un séjour de trois semaines et demie, pour coacher le démarrage de l'école FTJ pour l'Afrique de l'Est et participer à la célébration des 50 ans pour cette région du monde.  

Joële has arrived safely in Uganda for a three-and-a-half-week stay to help launch the PCYFM school for East Africa and participate in the 50th-anniversary celebration for that region of the world.

Aujourd'hui, dernière journée de la célébration des 50 ans des King's Kids au Liban. Un moment magnifique pour nous rappeler la fidélité de Dieu au fil des années. Nous avons entendu de beaux témoignages, Guy a retrouvé une ado française qui était participante à sa première tournée FJ en Roumanie en 1990 et qui est maintenant femme de pasteur au Liban. Nous avons entendu le développement encourageant des camps Familles de foi et des NIKO au Moyen-Orient. Joële part cet après-midi (dimanche) pour trois semaines en Ouganda pour lancer la prochaine école FTJ pour l'Afrique de l'Est, et Guy rentre en Suisse demain.

Today marks the final day of the King’s Kids 50th-anniversary celebration in Lebanon. It’s a wonderful time to reflect on God’s faithfulness over the years. We heard some beautiful testimonies; Guy reconnected with a woman who had participated as a French teenager in his first KKI outreach tour in Romania in 1990 and is now a pastor’s wife in Lebanon. We heard about the encouraging growth of the Faith Families camps and NIKO in the Middle East. Joële is leaving this afternoon (Sunday) for a three-week trip to Uganda to launch the next PCYFM school for East Africa, and Guy is returning to Switzerland tomorrow.

Nous sommes bien arrivés au Liban après 2 jours de voyage (départ mercredi matin à 5h30 de l'hôtel à Lima et arrivée vendredi matin à 1h à l'hôtel au Liban). Nous y sommes pour la célébration des 50 ans des King's Kids International et retrouvons de nombreux amis de la région. Quelle joie de voir l'héritage dans cette région du monde agitée, des jeunes, des familles, des leaders solides et enracinés! Ce matin, Guy a enseigné sur la fidélité de Dieu et combien cela est source de paix et de foi pour le futur, pour nos vies personnelles, nos familles, nos ministères et nos nations.

We arrived safely in Lebanon after a two-day trip (we left the hotel in Lima at 5:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning and arrived at the hotel in Lebanon at 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning). We’re here for the 50th-anniversary celebration of King’s Kids International and are reconnecting with many friends from the region. What a joy to see the legacy in this turbulent part of the world—young people, families, and strong, deeply rooted leaders! This morning, Guy taught about God's faithfulness and how much this is a source of peace and faith for the future for our personal lives, for our families, for our ministries and for our nations.

Nos vacances au Pérou se terminent par deux jours à Lima, le premier après-midi après installation dans notre hôtel pour découvrir le quartier de Miraflores (pyramide de briques précolombienne de Huaca Pucllana, parc des amoureux au bord de l'océan, supermarché de Larcomar), et le deuxième jour dans le centre historique (Plaza Mayor, cathédrale avec le tombeau de Francisco Pizarro, le palais présidentiel, les couvents de San Francisco avec ses catacombes et de Santo Domingo, la Casa de Aliaga (plus vieille maison privée d'Amérique où la même famille vit depuis 18 générations), le musée MUCEN, le marché central, le parc du circuit magique de l'eau avec ses fontaines... Magnifique! Maintenant, retour dans la réalité et envol mercredi matin pour le Liban pour la rencontre des 50 ans pour le Moyen-Orient.

Our vacation in Peru ended with two days in Lima: on the first afternoon, after checking into our hotel, we explored the Miraflores neighborhood (the pre-Columbian brick pyramid of Huaca Pucllana, the “Lovers’ Park” by the ocean, and the Larcomar shopping center), and on the second day, we visited the historic center (Plaza Mayor, the cathedral with the tomb of Francisco Pizarro, the Presidential Palace, the convents of San Francisco with its catacombs and Santo Domingo, the Casa de Aliaga (the oldest private home in the Americas, where the same family has lived for 18 generations), the MUCEN Museum, the Central Market, and the Magic Water Circuit Park with its fountains... Magnificent! Now, back to reality and a flight Wednesday morning to Lebanon for the KKI 50th-anniversary gathering for the Middle East.

Encore une magnifique journée, avec un départ à 4h du matin pour aller à la Rainbow Mountain, à 3h30 de route de Cuzco, puis 1h15 de marche entre 4600 et 5000m d'altitude. On se demandait si ça allait aller en raison de la hauteur, Guy a finalement fait la marche de montée à moto, mais a pu redescendre à pied, et Joële a fait l'aller-retour à pied. Avec le manque d'oxygène, la respiration est plus difficile, mais cela valait la peine. Cette montagne aux sept couleurs, ou Vinicunca, a des bandes uniques nées de l'accumulation de sédiments minéraux au fil des siècles. On a de nouveau eu un temps magnifique alors que la pluie était annoncée, on a été gâtés! Demain, départ pour Lima.

Another magnificent day, starting with a 4 a.m. departure to Rainbow Mountain, a 3.5-hour drive from Cuzco, followed by a 1 hour and 15-minute hike at an altitude between 4,600 and 5,000 meters. We were worried about whether we’d be able to handle it because of the altitude; Guy ended up riding his motorcycle up the trail but was able to walk back down, and Joële made the round trip on foot. With the lack of oxygen, breathing is harder, but it was worth it. This “Mountain of Seven Colors,” or Vinicunca, features unique bands formed by the accumulation of mineral sediments over the centuries. We had beautiful weather again even though rain had been forecast—we were really lucky! Tomorrow, we’re heading to Lima.
